Gold for Topring in the Business Transfer Awards

A big thank you goes out to the journalist, David Fillion and the journal La Voix de l’Est for spotlighting us on this accomplishment.

Although compressed air systems are our «raison d’etre», Topring has been a family business for 43 years and it is these ideals that continue to be the driving force behind our success. After a 15-year marathon towards our family succession, we finally felt ready to put it to the test with «Les Médaillés de la relève» contest.

We are extremely recognizant of everything it took to get here, including the efforts of each one of us at Topring.  Marie-Christine Ménard, one of the three children of the founder Louis Ménard, said it best: «there are not only captains in the boat but also the entire crew.  Everyone had an important role to play».

Topring won gold in the family class at the Les Médaillés de la relève competition, organized by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on June 8. To achieve this, this 43-year-old Quebec flagship located in Granby had to meet certain criteria, including that of successfully maintaining the sustainability of the company from one generation to the next.

A succession process that paid off.

At Topring, the three children of founder Louis Ménard—Alexandre, Anne-Catherine and Marie-Christine—took over the business in 2020, with an extra-family shareholder, Frédéric Théroux. Despite this little setback called the pandemic, the special project manager, Marie-Christine Ménard, confirmed to La Voix de l'Est that, since the succession process began, the company has grown its sales.

We’ve always been on the rise. It could be said that success is as much famililal as it is entrepreneurial, because the next generation is a bit hybrid, but family is a very strong value in the company,” she said.
